The rugged gamma ray /casing collar locator tool is used to measure the natural gamma ray intensity generated from the formation, and to locator the casing collars. Based on the inherent radiation intensity of a downhole geological mineral deposit and the collar depth, the measuring depth can be correlated. This combination tool differs from conventional gamma/CCL tool in that it incorporates special anti-shock means in its electric connections, electronics and sensors, and therefore can be used in combination with a perforator or a coring tool for completing perforation or coring in a single run. This substantially reduces the occurrence of accidents in a perforating job, shortens the work time and enhances the job quality and efficiency.
